In terms of loft, the gap wedge is just ahead of the pitching wedge and just behind the sand wedge. This means it has the second-least loft. With a loft ranging between 50 and 54 degrees, this is the wedge that is appropriate for playing fuller shots. Sand Wedge
True to the name, the sand wedge is used by golfers when they aim to hit the golf ball through sand bunkers or tall grass. If you want to hit a shot between 80 to 100 yards and want to get the ball into the air fast, this is the wedge you need to use. Note that sand wedges have a shorter height than the other clubs in a standard golf set. But they are not included in a standard golf club set.
Lob Wedge
The lob wedge is the latest addition to the wedge family. This wedge has the highest loft that ranges between 59 to 65 degrees. Experienced golfers often use this wedge for bunker shots and flop shots. More often than not, golfers cover about 60 to 70 yards using the lob wedge. When you want the golf ball to rise quite rapidly into the air, you can opt for this wedge. You won’t find a lob wedge included in the usual golf club sets.
