What Is A Non-Surgical Face Lift?

Non-surgical face lifts are aesthetic treatments which reverse the signs of aging, resulting in the temporary removal of facial lines and wrinkles, and improving skin’s evenness and tone. It is an alternative to plastic surgery.

The non-surgical face lift is becoming very popular with people who want to improve their appearance without the time and expense of facial rejuvenation surgery.

Cosmetic aestheticians offer a variety of non-surgical aesthetic treatments. Some people may prefer to have more than one type of treatment, to most effectively restore smooth, firm, youthful skin.

Non-surgical facelifts consist of a variety of treatments: Botulinum Toxin Type A; dermal fillers; chemical peels; microdermabrasion; and aesthetic lasers. Botulinum Toxin Type A is often combined with dermal fillers into a treatment known as the liquid face lift.

Botulinum Toxin Type A

Botulinum Toxin Type A is a neurotoxin which fights the aging effects of muscle contractions. Facial muscles are contracted with every smile, frown, or laugh. Over time, these muscle contractions create wrinkles and lines round the eyes, on the forehead, between the eyes, and round the mouth. These wrinkles are permanent.

Injecting minute amounts of Botulinum Toxin Type A directly into these muscles temporarily paralyzes them, which makes them to relax. Lines and wrinkles smooth away and disappear.

Neurotoxins, like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, are very effective but have a temporary effect.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers fight the aging effects of collagen loss and gravity. Over time, skin loses its firmness and volume. Lines and wrinkles form, and skin may begin to sag. Dermal fillers, such as collagen, hyaluronic acid, or synthetic fillers, are injected precisely into the dermis to correct lined and sagging skin.

Some dermal fillers are also revolumizers. These fillers replace the collagen and facial fat whose loss results in sagging skin. Revolumizers can be used to sculpt the cheekbones, cheeks, and chin.

Dermal fillers like Restylane, Perlane, and Juvederm have a temporary effect. The duration depends on the type of dermal fillers. Juvederm, for instance, is a hyaluronic acid filler whose effects can last up to a year.

Chemical peels

Chemical peels rejuvenate the skin by removing the upper layers, revealing youthful skin. They are effective for correcting many skin problems, especially sun-damaged skin.

There are several types of chemical peels, which have different effects.

Alpha hydroxy acid peels are the most superficial chemical peel. These peels are made from glycolic, lactic, or fruit acids. Deeper chemical peels consist of trichloroacetic acid. The deepest peel is the phenol peel, which effectively treats deep wrinkles in addition to sun damage.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion also rejuvenates skin by removing the surface layers. Instead of a chemical peel, microdermabrasion uses a medical device to exfoliate the skin. This technique is also used to correct fine lines, blemishes, and sun damage.

Aesthetic lasers

These are the latest in advanced aesthetic medical field. Aesthetic lasers use light energy to correct the loss of collagen. The lasers use safely targeted beams of light energy to cause micro-wounds in the dermis, which promotes the creation of new, firm collagen.

Some aesthetic lasers, like ablative lasers, treat the surface of the skin, too, by removing the upper layers.
